Kubu rattan is the rattan species that we use that has gone through a process from selecting basic materials until they are ready to be used as raw material for our baskets. Kubu rattan thrives and wilds in the lush Indonesian forests of Kalimantan, Sumatra Island and many other areas. When allowed to dry, they are white to cream in color. It can be colored naturally using mud to achieve a beautiful soft gray color known as Kubu gray by means of a natural process of soaking it in murky water. It is favored for being a tough and strong natural material.
